Required Grade 12 Courses
- ENG4U: English
English is the only course UofT names for the category. Economics programs and Public Policy also need MCV4U, and Forest Conservation needs SBI4U, so if one of those is the plan, add it now rather than in second year.
A category, not a program
Social Sciences is one of the Faculty of Arts & Science's admission categories at St. George. You apply to the category with six 4U/M courses including ENG4U, then choose your programs of study after first year. Sociology, Political Science, Economics and the rest all sit under it.
That is why the requirement list is short and the average spread is wide: the category admits for a whole faculty's worth of programs, and the competitive ones add their own prerequisites.
What these numbers mean for you
Mid to high 80s on OUInfo is the band UofT filed the category in. The CUDO table is who registered in UofT's social sciences group: 15.8% at 95+, 35.2% at 90 to 94, 26.9% at 85 to 89, 14.6% at 80 to 84 and 7.5% below 80. The entering average was 88.9.
An 86 is squarely inside both. The programs that add MCV4U, Economics and Public Policy, have a requirement the category average doesn't show, and Rotman Commerce is a separate category with its own page. CUDO reports by group, so this is UofT's social sciences entrants, not the St. George category alone.
