What Average Do You Need for Western Health Sciences?
Short answer: the high 80s to low 90s, with a class that sits at the top of it. Western's requirements page gives Health Sciences (OUAC code EW) an admission average range of high 80s to low 90s, the typical range of last year's incoming class. In Fall 2022, 95.2% of Western's health professions entrants from Ontario high schools came in at 90 or above, and 46.5% at 95 or above.
Western says: high 80s to low 90s, last year's incoming class[1][2]

|---|---|

| 85-89 | 4.5% |

Required Grade 12 Courses
- ENG4U: English
- SBI4U: Biology
Recommended
- SCH4U: Chemistry
Plus one of MHF4U, MCV4U or MDM4U. Western says required courses need a minimum average of 70%, and that SCH4U is recommended but not required; you'll need it for the Honours Specialization in Health Sciences with Biology.
Which math
Western is one of the few programs on this site that lets you choose: Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors or Data Management all satisfy the math requirement. If health sciences is the goal and calculus isn't, MDM4U counts the same. Nothing on the page weights one over another.
Ranges, not minimums
Western says there are no minimum grades that guarantee admission, that competitive admission averages vary from year to year, and that the ranges are the typical averages of last year's incoming class, so some students fall above and some fall below. No supplementary application is listed for Health Sciences; the Casper test Western requires for Engineering is not listed here.
What these numbers mean for you
The CUDO table is who registered in Western's health professions group: 46.5% at 95+, 48.7% at 90 to 94, 4.5% at 85 to 89 and 0.3% at 75 to 79. The entering average was 94.0, above the top of the range Western posts.
An 88 is inside the range and below 95.2% of the class that enrolled. A 91 is where half the class came in. CUDO reports by group, so this is Western's health professions entrants, which may include more than the BHSc; Nursing is reported separately.
