What Average Do You Need for UofT Computer Science?

Short answer: the low 90s on paper, and 95 in the room. UofT lists Computer Science at St. George (OUAC code TAD) on OUInfo with a grade range in the low 90s, and the category requires a supplemental application. In Fall 2022, 88.8% of UofT's computer and information science entrants from Ontario high schools came in at 95 or above, and 99.7% at 90 or above.

UofT says: a low 90s grade range on OUInfo, plus a supplemental application[1][2]

Required Grade 12 Courses

UofT names only English and Calculus and Vectors for the St. George computer science category, inside six 4U/M courses. MCV4U takes MHF4U as a prerequisite or co-requisite in Ontario, so you take Advanced Functions anyway. The Mississauga and Scarborough campuses list MHF4U outright, and Mississauga recommends MDM4U.

The supplemental application

UofT's program page marks the supplemental application as required for the St. George campus, and OUInfo says applicants to the Arts & Science Computer Science admission category must submit one. It is the one piece of this file that is not a grade. UofT does not publish what it weighs, so the honest reading is that it decides between applicants who are all in range.

Computer Science at St. George is its own admission category in the Faculty of Arts & Science, so you apply to it directly on your OUAC application rather than entering a broader science stream and choosing CS later.

Why the range and the class disagree

Low 90s is the band UofT filed the category in on OUInfo. The CUDO table is who registered in UofT's computer and information science group in Fall 2022: 88.8% at 95 or above, 10.9% at 90 to 94, and 0.3% at 75 to 79. The entering average was 96.7, the highest of any group UofT reports and a point behind only Waterloo's computer science group on this site.

CUDO reports by group, so the table is every UofT computer and information science entrant, across all three campuses, not the St. George category alone.

What these numbers mean for you

A 92 is inside the range UofT names and below 99.7% of the class that enrolled. That isn't a contradiction, but it tells you an offer at 92 rests on the supplemental application more than the average does. A 95 is where most of the class came in.

If CS at UofT is the goal and St. George is the constraint, the Mississauga (TMX) and Scarborough (TXC) campuses are separate codes with their own requirements; UofT's program page lists all three.

A 92 is inside the low 90s range UofT lists, but only 0.3% of the Fall 2022 computer and information science entrants came in below 90 and 88.8% came in at 95 or above, so it leans on the supplemental application.
